Whether you're self-publishing your book or submitting it to agents or publishers, you want to make sure that your manuscript is as clean and error-free as possible. My copyediting services include combing your manuscript to weed out the following:

Spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and tense, including technical consistency
Inconsistencies and continuity errors
Fact checking and potential legal liability

While I don't offer line editing services, I will typically end up pointing out some aspects of line editing during a copyedit, such as repeated or overused words, confusing passages, and tonal shifts.

How It Works

Copyediting:

Contact me at sonyabateman.author@gmail.com to schedule an editing slot or start your edit now. If your manuscript is ready to edit, you can send it as an attachment with your initial email.
If you're scheduling an edit, I will reply with a confirmation that you're on the schedule. I'll also send you a reminder email on the date you've scheduled.
When you send your manuscript, please ensure that it's in .doc or .docx format (Microsoft Word document). I use the Track Changes and Comments features in Word for editing. If you don't have access to Microsoft Word, you can download a free compatible word processing program like OpenOffice or Apache Office to save your manuscript in .doc or .docx format.
When your copyedit is complete, I will email the edited manuscript to you along with an invoice through PayPal. You will not need a PayPal account to make your payment.

Turnaround time for editing is typically 3 to 7 days, depending on the length of your manuscript and the number of projects I have. If your manuscript will take longer than 7 days, I will let you know upfront so you can plan accordingly.

Sample editing:

Email your sample of 2,000 words or less to me at sonyabateman.author@gmail.com. I'll do a full copyedit and send the sample back to you within 3 business days. If you'd like to continue with the copyedit, you can either schedule an editing slot or send me your full manuscript at that time.
